At Highfield, Citizenship plays a key role in children’s personal development and also their understanding and appreciation of key British Values such as tolerance, diversity, respect and rule of law. Children are encouraged to think critically, discuss and contribute in lessons to understand fully how to be a good citizen within today’s modern society.
The Key Stage 2 curriculum allows children to become entrepreneurs, setting up a business and learning how to make a profit, as well as other important topics like anti-social behaviour, the effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, understanding your uniqueness and healthy eating.
The Key Stage 3 curriculum again focuses on enterprise, as well as learning how to be proficient with money, laws and justice, democracy, self-esteem and respecting everyone in society.
