General Data Protection Regulations

The 1998 Data Protection Act has been replaced by the General Data Protection Regulations from 25th May 2018.
Information on the schools' Privacy policy and a Privacy Notice indicating the personal data the school processes, for staff, pupils, parents/carers and governors is available on the school website.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Changes to the data protection regulations come into force on Friday 25 th May 2018.
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the result of four years of work by the EU to bring data protection legislation into line with new, previously unforeseen ways that data is now used.
Currently, the UK relies on the Data Protection Act 1998, but this will be superseded by the new legislation. It introduces tougher fines for non-compliance and breaches, and gives people more say over what companies can do with their data.
The changes to the regulations impact on everyone and Highfield Middle School is working hard to ensure we are ready for implementation.

WHAT THIS MEANS TO OUR STUDENTS AND PARENTS
Over the coming weeks we will be publishing a number of documents in line with the changes coming into force, which will also outline what the changes mean to students and parents. At Highfield we are taking these changes to the regulations seriously and our SLT is working with the Local Authority to ensure we are compliant and that information provided to us, which is necessary to run the school will be collected, stored and disposed of in accordance with the law.
