Music

 

The music curriculum at Highfield is designed to allow pupils time to explore and engage with music in a practical way while building their skills and knowledge in the subject.  The content in each year builds on the previous year and we work closely with music staff at Prudhoe High School to ensure our pupils leave Highfield with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to be ready to further their studies.  We assess music in 4 areas; performing, composing, listening and theory.  In addition to classroom music, pupils have opportunities to perform in extra curricular groups.  Recent events and opportunities include; Remembrance Events, Clic Sargent Carol Concert (Sage Gateshead and Newcastle City Hall), The Grinch, Key Stage Carol Services at St Mary Magdalene Church, Annual summer show (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin).

There are also opportunities for your child to learn a musical instrument through our lessons provided by Music Partnership North.
